@DCTV 87 Lafayette St, NYC
A night of curated video testimonies
DCTV and the NYFVC are proud to host an evening of documentaries coming straight out of last fall’s Hurricane Sandy.
Featuring live footage taken on the ground from those within the storm, this curation of cell-phone cinema as well as home videos and sound recordings will allow us as viewers to collectively reframe and process an event that greatly impacted and affected our beloved city, seeing how citizen-journalism and community-generated content can be some of the most engaging forms of storytelling.
This screening of short films will be introduced by Sandy Storyline, a participatory documentary project, and followed by a Q&A with filmmakers and Sandy survivors as well as a reception.
Do you have ideas for programming? NYFVC is a non-profit dedicated to providing member with a full range of programming over the year. We aim for a mix of experimental, animation, narrative and documentary all free to members and try to charge low cost admission to the public. The Board of the NYFVC also pays dues and volunteers their time to create great programs. If you have any ideas for programs you would like to see, let us know here!
